A Few Everyday Carry Suggestions
Everyday Carry (EDC) is a term that has gained traction over the last few years. It is simply referring to the items you carry with you on a daily basis. For some, this may just be your keys, wallet, and phone. Many people add a watch. Some then add a trifecta of items that fall into the Write, Light, Slice term (pen, flashlight, knife). Others go further and add multitools, fidget toys, backup tools, first aid supplies, snacks, and much more.
You can find product suggestions for EDC all over the internet. There are so many, you can find an article recommending any product out there. Instead of just being another one of those, I’m just going to make a few suggestions based on the dozens (hundreds?) of items I’ve used and tested. I’ll order them from most affordable to most expensive. The items marked with an asterisk* are the items I’d suggest for someone just starting out (I chose two in each of the main categories).
- Streamlight Microstream
- *Olight i3T
- Massdrop AAA - Brass, Copper, Titanium
- *MecArmy X3S
- Olight S1 Mini Baton
- Prometheus Beta QRv2
- *Field Notes notebooks and Recycled Firefighter Cover
- Tom Bihn and *Recycled Firefighter Wallets
- Huckleberry Woodchuck Handkerchiefs
- *Keysmart Key Organizer
- GORUCK Gr1 Backpack
I’ve owned and used everything on the list at one time or another. On a normal day, I carry a Karas Kustom pen, a MecArmy X3S on my keychain, a Massdrop Gent, a Tom Bihn Wallet, and a KeySmart Key Organizer. Depending on the occasion/event/day/attire, I’ll switch out things. For instance, in dress clothes I may opt to carry the Cadet and a handkerchief. If I’m just wearing a t-shirt and jeans. I might throw the Space Pen in my pocket and leave the Karas at home.
